How do coaches decide to play goalies?
I play FHM with a CPU head coach and I find their handling of goalies to be difficult to figure out. What makes them decide to play one goalie more than the other? Do hot/cold streaks have a larger influence than ability?
Here's one example in particular that confused me: I have two goalies that are 2.5 in ability. They ended the regular season with 66 and 19 games played. However, in the playoffs, my coach went with the goalie who had 19 games for the entirety of the playoffs (23 games). They've both been healthy all year.
What could have influenced that? He ended up playing very well, but I would have expected the goalie with 66 games to at least start the first game. Was it simply that one goalie was determined "hot" going into the playoffs?
I've attached screenshots of their stats and streak status (after the playoffs ended).
