OOTP devs didn't have a choice but those complaining don't care about that. I do think, however, the parent company could have done a better job, specifically, negotiating that the removal would start with OOTP 24.
The unmentionable baseball organization should have thought of this too. Maybe there's none or very little money in it for them, but an organization (the unmentionable one) angering those who are interested in them (the OOTP players playing teams in the unmentionable one) is not a good thing. Good will is worth something.
I had to edit. I was stunned to see mentioning certain names results in them being edited out by the software.
