Cards news: July 1 -- Team awards for June
Player of the Month: Paul Goldschmidt -- The reigning NL MVP hit .305 with eight homers, 20 RBIs and 20 runs scored in 25 games. The 35-year-old first baseman got on base at a .437 clip and slugged .621.
Starting Pitcher of the Month: Jack Flaherty -- The 27-year-old right-hander went 2-1 in five starts with a 3.51 ERA. He also pitched a shutout. In 33.1 innings, he struck out 33 and had a 0.84 WHIP.
Reilef Pitcher of the Month: Nick Robertson -- The 24- year-old right-hander got into 13 games going 4-0 with a 0.67 ERA. He struck out 20 and posted a .082 WHIP over 13.1 innings. Robertson was named NL Rookie of the Month.
