Having posted this, I still routinely lose in the 1st round to players who fill out 12 man pitching staffs when only 9 are needed. The game does not like less than 9 no matter the era. I think you can get away with 8, but 7 will definitely cause problems. I also noticed that when players had 5 SP and start highest rested, the game still goes through all 5 starters even though #1 is fully rested for game 4. That is why losing is so irksome because their 5th starter (likely a silver card) often beats my perfect or diamond pitcher.
