This is a multi-part question, but my main concern is the title.

I only ever hire the best rated coaches I can find and this severely limits my enjoyment of the current coaching system. IRL, coaches and other staff members don't have ratings for you to view before you decide to hire them (this isn't to say I don't like the fact that I can easily see their ratings, though, because I do).

I know coach/staff ratings never decline as they age, but I'm not sure about them improving. I would like to expand my search and I know I could always just hire whichever coach/staff member regardless of ratings, but I don't like the idea of intentionally hampering my farm system and player development if a poorly rated coach/staff member has zero chance of ever improving their ratings and I'll just end up firing them after two years anyway.

I also don't like the idea of just hiring the highest rated coach available because 1) it automatically eliminates hundreds of other coaches to choose from, 2) it makes the coaching system very boring and linear, and 3) I don't want to corner the market on the best coaches/staff members available.

So, for example, if I have a PC w/ a "Poor" Teach Pitching rating, is there ever a chance they could improve that rating over time?

If I turn a retired player into a coach, is there any way to reverse this as if I never turned them into one?

I have a retired pitcher (Julio Teheran) that played 8 seasons for the Braves (my team). I wanted to turn him into a pitching coach for my DSL team, but when I chose the option to turn him into a coach, it generated him as a bench coach.

I know I can just delete him as a coach and that would only leave his player profile, but when I do, the option to turn him back into a coach is no longer available. So essentially, you can only turn a player into coach once using the standard method.

I also know I can just change his position designation from BC to PC and adjust his ratings accordingly, but I was hoping to use the generator to create his ratings. Basically, I only want to guarantee he's a pitching coach but live w/ whatever ratings he receives as-is.

Is there a way to edit the coaching database so that it looks like I never turned him into a coach to begin with and still have the option available to turn him into one? Or am I now stuck w/ him being generated as a bench coach?

How do you know when it's time to fire staff members?

I know their reputation levels are only based on team performance (overall record, batting average, ERA) but there's really no way to tell if the team's performance, whether good or bad, is due to coaching or the players. And, to my knowledge, there's also no way to tell how much of an effect a certain coach is having on the development of my players.

So when I find a coach/staff member w/ great ratings, is there ever any need to even consider replacing them, no matter how well the team performs?
