Quick question for anyone in the know ( I feel like I. should know this, but I just want to be sure).

If you want to remove a minor league player from the 40 man roster, may you simply waive the player for 3 days as opposed to waiving AND DFAing the player?

Obviously the difference would be that the player can remain on his minor league team (and playing in games) while he is being waived, but not if it is required for him to be both.
