The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the signing of 22-year-old right-handed pitcher David Matos to an $11 million contract which will cover the next four seasons.
Matos, 22, who found his way out of Cuba has never pitched in professional baseball but is considered a top-of the-rotation caliber arm.
He is expected to be given the opportunity to earn a spot in the St. Louis rotation during spring training.
