Respectfully... I think someone like that should be among the most gracious and cheerful. Many people start out in poverty or other less-than-desirable circumstances and some stay there, yet many, many of them are nice people. That James' mom went from extreme poverty to extreme wealth and is a bit of witch as a result simply does not speak highly of her. In most circumstances in life, there's no excuse for not treating other humans well. There's definitely no excuse for James' mom to be snotty or rude to other people, generally speaking. IMO.

And yes, we all have our bad moods and less-than-best moments. And yes, rich people get bugged (and worse) by other humans. I'm not talking about those scenarios. I'm talking about how you treat a clerk or waitress at a grocery store or coffee shop, when it costs you nothing to be nice.
