It looks like we may be headed for a 1904 Yankees vs. Cardinals World Series. The Yankees are already there, sweeping Boston. The games in New York were tight and the Yankees prevailed by the thinnest of margins, but they dominated at Fenway Park, including a 17-3 thrashing in the series clincher.
Cardinals lead the Padres 3 games to 1. The Cardinals' offensive struggles that they experienced in the playoffs last year seem to have vanished, as they are smashing the ball all over the park. Thomas Webster Follis will try to close out the NLCS tonight on the road at Jack Murphy Stadium.
Even though the Yankees finished at an incredible 132-30, the Cardinals are still very solid at 112-50. The Yankees offense is decent but not amazing. They win lots of games because of defense and pitching. The Yankees' success against the Cardinals, if they match up against them, will depend on whether they can keep the St. Louis bats at bay.
On the IPA side, Beechwood won a close back-and-forth seven game RU Title Series against Far Mountain, and Hillsboro downed San Alejo in the TU in six. The winner of the Beechwood-Hillsboro Pro Cup series will capture their first title.
