HOWEVER…I'm so sick of hearing "all we have to do is beat Iran". Yeah, and all Iran has to do is draw. That's a huge advantage, especially as we're not overloaded with scoring.
And I'm old enough to remember the Iranians basically dancing on our graves in 1998 because they were motivated by their hatred of the global bully from the decade before. Perhaps things are different now, but it's not as if American Imperialism is a dead issue for the rest of the world. They could still be especially motivated because of our using Iraq as a proxy to attack them for most of the 1980s.

Speaking of how old I am, it's scary to think that Claudio Reyna's son is now the USNT's wunderkind. I can remember when Claudio himself was the new sensation who was going to lead us to the next level. Sigh.
Off to read the UK papers and laugh at how much they must be crying. Even if we might be going home on Tuesday.

Hey, Westheim, if both the US and Germany get the boot next week, you wanna split a cab to the airport? We can talk about the Mets to take our mind off of this.

As for the tournament in general, of the 20 games played so far, half of them have been scoreless at halftime. Action, action, we got action!!
This was "only" the fifth match to end nil-nil, though. So you've got a 75% chance of seeing a goal. What more do you want for your 2 hours' time, I ask?

England trashed, and I mean TRASHED Iran, and we played England dead level. I like our chances.
