Game 1: 1-4 L. LP-Baz (2-3, 5.1 5 3 3 3 5). Rays got a run on two hits in the first inning and had none of either the rest of the way as the Royals moved ahead of them into the second seed in the AL.

Game 2: 2-3 L. LP-McClanahan (10-5, 7 6 3 3 1 6). Nick Gordon homered for the second straight day with today's off Mac breaking a 2-2 tie in the 7th as the Rays fell further back in the seeding race.

Game 3: 4-3 W. WP-Taylor (6-5). Starter-Rasmussen (5 5 3 3 2 4). HR-Tucker (33). Ras couldn't hold a 3-0 lead but the Rays won anyway in the bottom of the 9th when Arozarena singled, stole second, went to third on the bad throw and scored on a Royce Lewis single.

Team record: 85-55. The Yankees swept their series so the magic # was only reduced by one to 16. Next up: An off-day then we head to the west coast for 3 at San Diego. The Padres are in the thick of a tight NL West race, only 1 up on Colorado.
