I have been a Giants fan since I was 10 in 1966. I became a Mariners fan sometime in the Griffey/Piniella era even though I started attending M's games in 1977. Yeah it took 12 to 15 years for it to finally stick, though it has been a burden but hey besides a 5 year run (2010-2014) rooting for the Giants hasn't been picnic either,
The plight of a sports fan eh?

Interesting background. Thanks for sharing.
My short story is that I was taken to an A's game in 1982, my first baseball game, really got into the Giants in 1985 but still liked the A's for a bit, then the 1989 World Series happened, and my interest in the A's went down a lot.
Then went to the Seattle area in the summer of 2000 - so, the 116-win team was my first full season as a Mariners fan - and have liked them too ever since, probably more so than the Giants now.
My first Mariners game was opening day in 2001, so I saw the first game and the first win of that 116-win season plus Ichiro's first game and first hit.
