The below graphic is from one of my programs and shows my progression as head coach:
* I started at Boise State, a Reputation 1.0 team, and as you can see from the Coach Rep History plot in the lower right, the team's reputation moved up and down through my seven years as coach.
* With two good years in a row, my reputation grew enough that Lehigh, a Reputation 2.0 team, hired me. In just three years I increased their reputation from 2.0 to 2.2.
* Missouri State, a Reputation 4.1 team, took notice and hired me. As you can see, I have not been very successful through 10 seasons, and am just plain lucky that I have yet to be fired. With the drop in MSU's rep to 3.8, I have not received any offers from higher reputation teams. And shortly after writing this, my 11th season ended with a poor result and MSU's rep dropped to 3.7. I was fired and had to hook-on with Appalachian State, a Reputation 1.1 team. My personal rep dropped to 0.7 (range = 0.5 to 9.5) as a result of being fired, so I have a lot of work to do to get to where higher reputation teams will even consider me.
