Personally, I don't actually consider the Phillies-Astros matchup here to be a true World Series matchup, seeing as the Astros never should have been in the AL in the first place. By the same token, I don't consider any Astros World Series appearance since they actually switched leagues to be a true World Series, either. Just so you know. CD out.

I don't consider many World Series to be true matchups. The 2019 World Series featured the Astros who should be in the NL, and the Washington Nationals should still be the Montreal Expos. The 2020 World Series doesn't count because it was a Covid shortened season, and the Dodgers should still be in Brooklyn.
Here's some more:
2021: Should have been the Boston Braves vs. Boston Red Sox (Braves should be in Boston, Astros don't count because they should be in the NL and are cheaters, so I'll take the AL runner up).
2020: Doesn't count, Dodgers should be in Brooklyn and Tampa/St. Pete shouldn't have a team.
2018: Should have been the Boston Red Sox vs. Brooklyn Dodgers, so this doesn't count either.
2017: Astros cheaters and NL, should have been New York Yankees vs. Brooklyn Dodgers
2016: Cubs vs. Indians, counts
2015: Mets vs. Royals, counts
2014: doesn't count, should have been Kansas City Royals vs. New York Giants
2013: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Boston Red Sox, counts
2012: doesn't count, should have been Detroit Tigers vs. New York Giants
2011: doesn't count, should have been St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Senators (TX Rangers)
2010: doesn't count, should have been New York Giants vs. Washington Senators
2009: New York Yankees vs. Philadelphia Phillies, counts
1996 and 1999 don't count, should have been New York Yankees vs. Boston Braves.
1988 definitely doesn't count, should have been Philadelphia Athletics vs. Brooklyn Dodgers.
Come to think of it, none of the Yankees' championships should count because they should still be called the Highlanders. And even before the Highlanders, they were the Baltimore Orioles!
Could have a lot of fun with this!
