Pls explain new rankings program
Hi guys,
I would like someone to explain in more detail how the new rankings system works pls.
I understand that under the new system only a fighter's last 10 fights will count towards his ranking points, thereby getting rid of the old problem of experianced fighters with lots of bouts being ranked higher than their current form deserves.
I have a couple of specific questions.
Jim has previously said the new system is more accurate and realistic now. does this mean points are given not only on the level of competition (overall rating of the opponent) as in the previous system but the type of result. For example a KO earning more points than a close split decision?
If I fight an opponent out of his current weight class where he has had the majority of bouts and is currently rated and schedule a bout at another weight class how does this affect his ranking in the new and the old weights?
I am thinking here when established champions ofen move up in weight to challenge another champ i.e Napoles-Monzon, Duran-Leonard. or sometimes a fighter often fights at multiple weights for various reasons for example La Motta, Langford, Fitzsimmons, and the obvious example of Henry Armstrong.
is it possible to be ranked in multiple divisons at the same time and how high would a fighter be ranked if he came in cold in a divison and defeated the current champ as with Leonard-Hagler?
