2022 Postseason Recap
So about the Angels finally making the playoffs...
The Guardians were able to capture the Wildcard taking down the Angels before falling to the White Sox. An epic AL East showdown in the ALDS resulted in the Yankees with their big payroll edging out the plucky, low budget Rays. Anthony Rizzo carried the New York offense through a hard fought ALCS series.
Awaiting the Yankees were the Dodgers. An organization gunning for their 2nd WS title in 3 seasons. They easily swept the Padres before outlasting a Cubs club who had swept their way to the NLCS. However, LA ran into a red hot Yankees team who leaned on great pitching and an MVP performance from LF Joey Gallo who smashed 3 homers during the series while batting .333. One of those HRs was an 11th inning walk off to take Game 1.
For the 28th time in franchise history the New York Yankees were World Series champions. Hooray....
A number of organizations decided to shake up leadership and two clubs transferred ownership following the start of the off-season. Toronto elected to part ways with Ross Adkins while Seattle finally pushed Jerry Dipoto out after 7 seasons. In even bigger news, Robert Castelinni sold the Reds to Zion Dizer who is hoping to build on a strong playoff appearance in 2022. Arizona also saw ownership change hands with real estate mogul Sergio Andrade buying the D-Backs from Ken Kendrick.
