MY LIFE IN 1959
EC's Wishin' Life Is Fine In '59

Movies, Music, Sports -- that's the story of my life.
Wow!
The movies are pretty darn devine in '59... yep, think so.

One good thing about being in the Air Force... Hollywood gives the military access to their movie releases before the public... we watched a lot movies in the Air Force... yep, a lot of them.

1959 was the year of one of my all-time favorite westerns "Rio Bravo" with John Wayne, Dean Martin, Ricky Nelson and Walter Brennan.

Also the year for "Anatomy of a Murder" with Jimmy Stewart playing a hayseed and small-town lawyer opposed in the courtroom by the dandy prosecutor George C. Scott, in his first role.

EC really liked "Some Like It Hot", a comedy with Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon... the entertaining romantic comedy "Pillow Talk" with adorable Doris Day and Rock Hudson... cute naval comedy "Operation Petticoat" with Cary Grant and Tony Curtis aboard a submarine with 5 beatiful girls... and another fine western "Warlock", starring Henry Fonda, Anthony Quinn and Richard Widmark.

There's a song in "Rio Bravo"... they are all cooped up in the jailhouse guarding a prisoner... to past the time, they start singing a song... Dean Martin sings... of course Ricky Nelson sings... and Walter Brennan sings... nope, pilgrim, Big John Wayne didn't join in... nope, Big John didn't even hum, play a tambourine, tap his toes, snap his fingers or clap his hands.

For all you buckaroos and little darlin's, too... here's some good pickin' and grinnin'... and singin'... here's everybody -- but Big John -- singing "My Rifle, My Pony and Me" and "Cindy, Cindy".

EC would also like to add that Walter Brennan and the Johnny Mann Singers had a big hit in 1962 with the story of "Old Rivers"... it was #5 on the pop charts and #3 on the country charts... it's a narration song and just might bring a tear or two to your eyes... it did it to EC... when I was 5 in 1955, EC lived on a farm... there was an old black farmer, a sharecropper, who befriended me and would let me plow with him... he would let me stand between him and the plow, hold the reins and the plow and "pretend" to plow... yep, that is one of the highlights of EC's life... that why "Old Rivers" touched me so and made my eyes water when I first heard it on the radio in 1962... it still bring a tear or two to my eyes when I hear it on my custom-made CDs.

Watch this video... it is a great video and wonderful song, too.

Yep, EC misted up again... also misted up seeing my pals, Big John, Deano, Ricky and Grandpa McCoy again.... really miss them.

Yep, EC watched the videos again... not one time, but twice.
