Walkers news: July 7 -- Four Walkers minor leaguers named to Prospects Game
The St. Louis River Walkers have had three players from their minor league system named to the upcoming Prospects Game.
* Starting pitcher Dirk Sobolik -- A second-round pick in the 2038 draft, the 21-year-old right-hander has gone 4-3 with a 2.89 ERA in 12 starts this season for AA Springfield. He also made six starts at high-A Palm Beach, going 3-1 with a 2.73 ERA.
Sobolik is the No. 1 rated player in the St. Louis farm system* and No. 12 in all of the MBL.
* Second baseman Josh Skinner -- A 13th-round pick in the 2039 draft, the 23-year-old has split time between high-A Palm Beach and AA Springfield this season.
At Palm Beach, Skinner hit .299 with five homers, 18 RBIs and 26 run scored in 42 games.
For Springfield, he hit .276 with five homers, 20 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
Skinner is the Wallkers' third-ranked prospect and 22 oveall in all of the MBL.
* Outfielder Ramon Bellini -- An international signing out of Italy in 2037, the 21-year-old Bellini has split time this season between Low-A State College and Class A Peoria.
At State College, Bellini batted .154 with four homers, one RBI and two runs scored in seven games.
For Peoria, Bellini has hit .312 with no homers, two RBIs and seven runs scored in nine games.
Bellini is the second-ranked player in the Walkers' minor-league system and No. 13 in all of MBL.
* Catcher Tim Bjork -- Acquired in a trade with Cleveland in the offseason, Bjork made his major-league debut this season while also playing with AAA Memphis and AA Springfield.
Called up to the majors because of injury, Bjork got into 11 games/nine starts with the Walkers, hitting .171 with no homers or RBIs and two runs scored.
At AAA Memphis, the 24-year-old has played 12 games/11 starts and hit .231 with no homers, three RBIs and five runs scored.
For AA Springfield, where he is currently playing, Bjork has hit .340 with four homers, 21 RBIs and 16 runs scored.
