Walkers news: April 23 -- St. Louis 8, Chicago 0, Game 2

Record: 8-13, 5th, 8 GN Des Moines
Billy Ables pitched seven shutout innings and St. Louis pulled off a split of a doubleheader with Chicago with an 8-0 win at Busch Stadium (2006),
Ables (2-2) scattered six singles during his time on the mound. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter.
Chris Willett pitched the final two innings without issue to complete the shutout.
The River Walkers grabbed the lead for good in the bottom of the first inning against G-Men starter Cory Maddox.
Josh Hurley opened the inning with a walk.
He then stole second and scored on a one-out single by Mark Herman.
St. Louis tallied twice off Maddox in the third.
After a strikeout to begin the inning, Maddox walked two straight before giving up an RBI single to Herman.
Nick Shaw later delivered a two-out single to make it 3-0.
Ronny Mauricio opened the fourth with a double off Maddox.
A walk and a Josh Hurley single later loaded the bases.
Mauricio scored on a wild pitch.
Herman's third hit of the game, a single, scored Ables as the Walkers went ahead 5-0.
Mark Waterson led off the fifth with a double off reliever Jorge Ariza.
He later scored on an Ables ground out.
Solo homers from Manuel Coke in the sixth and eighth innings provided the final two runs for the Walkers.
