Walkers news: April 23 -- Chicago 6, St. Louis 1, Game 1

Record: 7-13, 5th/(Tied/w. Quad City), 8.5 GB Des Moines
Former St. Louis pitcher Maximilliano Minelli threw five shutout innings and the River Walkers didn't score until the ninth, as Chicago took the opening game of a doubleheader 6-1 at Busch Stadium (2006).
Minelli (2-2), who St. Louis traded to Chicago in the 2039, allowed five hits -- three singles, one double and one triple -- during his time on the mound.
He struck out seven and didn't walk a batter.
Jorge Ariza pitched a scoreless sixth for the G-Men.
While another former Walker, Xavier Wigfall, followed that with two more scoreless innings.
Willie Acheson handled the ninth and gave up an RBI single to pinch-hitter Josh Hurley, but by that time Chicago led 6-0.
It was a rough outing for St. Louis starter Ming Xiang, who allowed five runs on eight hits in five innings.
The G-Men scored in four consecutive innings, beginning in the third when Dave Hutchison opened the scoring with a two-out RBI single off Xiang.
In the fourth, another former St. Louis player, Chris Gibbs, did some damage with an RBI single.
Ryan West followed with a double which plated a run, making it 3-0.
Val Moreno doubled off Xiang with one out in the fifth.
He scored on a throwing error by Xiang on a ball hit by Ramiro Hernandez.
It was one of three error by the Walkers in the game.
Josh Rosborough made it 6-0 with his first home run of the season -- a two-run shot off Josh Joyce in the top of the sixth.
