Madison tallied single runs in three of the first four innings off St. Louis starting pitcher Juan Farias, and the Muskies held on for a 3-2 win at Comiskey Park (1969).
Former Walker Dan Hillard scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first.
He doubled off Farias, who was making his first start of the season after beginning the season with AAA Memphis, and scored on a two-out single by Kevin Couture Jr.
In the third, pitcher Melvin Michalec led off with a single.
A wild pitch moved him to third.
Michalec scored on a two-out single by Josh Schulte.
An inning later, Couture Jr. was hit by a Farias pitch to open the inning.
An Adam Macklin single moved Couture Jr. to third.
Hector Hildalgo later connected on a two-out single, making it 3-0.
The second home run of the season for rookie first baseman Carlos Martines provided both St. Louis runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Reliever Efrain Garcia gave up the homer.
That was one of just two hits for St. Louis.
A third inning single by Ryan Wibbenmeyer off Michalec in the third was the other.
Michalec went four innings, allowing no runs on one hit. He struck out two and walked three.
Garcia (1.2 IP) and Jorge Juarez (1.1) combined to pitch the fifth through seventh innings.
Alan Albanese set the Walkers down in order in the eighth.
Mauricio Moreno did the same in the ninth for his fourth save.
