Wakers news: April 16 -- Los Angeles 5, St. Louis 1

Record: 6-9, 5th/(Tied/w. Quad City), 5.5 GB Des Moines
T.J. Leitch staked Los Angeles to a 3-0 lead with a homer in the top of the second and the Turtles rode that to a 5-1 win over St. Louis at Busch Stadium (2006).
Jordan Lawlar got things rolling by drawing a lead-off walk from River Walkers starting pitcher Billy Ables to begin the third.
Ables retired the next two and it should have been three but strike three eluded catcher Savion McMullan and Rick Koenig reached safely.
Leitch made St. Louis pay belting a 1-0 pitch 387 feet over the right-field wall for a 3-0 Turtles lead.
After the Walkers pulled to within 3-1 with a run in the bottom of the sixth, L.A. answered with a pair in the top of the seventh.
Josh Ames plated them both with a two-out double off Kyle Smarr.
Turtles starting pitcher Lorenzo Mascorro (1-2) allowed one run on four hits over five innings. He struck out three and walked the same.
Jason Stone worked a scoreless sixth for L.A.
The seventh and eighth were silent as well, Ben Aughenbaugh working around a pair of hits.
The ninth belonged to Orlando Soto in a non-save situation.
