Inaugural Draft - Players not signing for what their demand shows

Hello,

I have a question around contracts while running an inaugural draft.

I ran an inaugural draft and it looks like all the guys that were drafted signed short contracts right off the bat. I am seeing some younger players though who had demands of a lot of money, showing up as minimum contract players. Like some guys who's demand's showed up at over $20m, however they are on minimum deals, post draft. This was an auto-draft as I am just testing everything out before my league launches.

Does anybody know why they could have signed for min. contract instead of what their demand said before the actual draft?

I have never done an inaugural draft before, and plan on launching an online league fairly shortly, but would love an explaination on the above. If this is normal.

Thank you for any insight on this and for your time.
Michael
