Green Bay jumped on St. Louis rookie starting pitcher Allan Almon for five runs in the first four innings and breezed to a 5-2 win at Busch Stadium (2006).
The victory gave the Mallards wins in two of three games in the series.
Solo homers from Joel Petrucci in the second inning and Alberto Landaverde in the third staked Green Bay to a 2-0 lead.
The Mallards broke it open with a three-run fourth against Almon.
Shuji Shiraki drove in both runs with a two-out double.
A two-run homer from Armando Jaquez in the bottom of the fifth off Green Bay starter Alex Romero accounted for all of the St. Louis scoring.
Romero (4-7) allowed the two runs on five hits in five innings. He struck out three and walked one.
Matt Broussard worked a scoreless sixth for the Mallards.
Andy Carruthers handled the seventh and got the first out of the eighth.
Matt Wilson got the second out of the eighth.
Closer Matt Rodriguez did the rest, earning his 37th save of the season.
