DiMAGGIO, WILLIAMS LATEST NAMES TO JOIN THE FIGHT

The New York Yankees' Joe DiMaggio and the Boston Red Sox' Ted Williams, possibly the two biggest stars in Major League Baseball are now in the U.S. Armed Forces, joining the fight against the Axis powers.

Other stars to recently join are SS Pee Wee Reese (Dodgers), SS Phil Rizzuto (NYY), SP Red Ruffing (NYY), RF Enos Slaughter (Cardinals), Charlie Gehringer (Tigers), Gil Hodges (Dodgers), Ralph Kiner (Pirates), SP Ted Lyons (White Sox), 1B Johnny Mize (Giants), and plenty more.

They join the likes of Braves prospect Warren Spahn, Indians ace Bob Feller, Tigers slugger Hank Greenberg and others who already missed the 1942 MLB Season.
