After playing many manual games with my 1955 pants I decided to tweak them a bit for the 1961 season. Basically I made the pants proper a bit longer below the knees than with the 1955 models and I did additional work around the black shoes area and around the stirrups and sanitary socks areas. All eighteen teams of 1961 have their stockings in their proper historical style.

I have available for free download my 1961 pants and the my_61_pants.zip folder once unzipped has 40 pants (home and away for each of the 18 teams of 1961 plus home and away for the 1962 Mets and Colt .45s. You will need to have running the black_shoes.webp (renamed to shoes.webp as described in the original post above) from the 1955 group in order for the 1961 pants group to look right as they were made for black shoes.

Note: I have other examples of my pants used in manual games on Twitch by kcstengelsr. They are also free to watch.

Note2: I feel that the default pants and white shoes works fine for games set in 1990 or later, but I think shorter pants proper with black shoes is what I prefer for games set in earlier times. I think starting around 1980 that some future pants of mine would lengthen the pants proper to just about the top of the stirrups while keeping the black shoes and starting around 1970 some future pants of mine would lengthen the pants proper to about the midpoint between the bottom of the 1961 pants proper and the bottom of the 1990s pants proper while keeping the black shoes. In creating other pants for games set in 1960 or earlier I would use either my 1955 pants template or the 1961 pants template but the 1961 template does a better job IMO with the areas around the shoes and around the sanitary socks.

Note3: silvam14 and nopepper have IMO superior historical pants proper than my efforts except they use the very long 1990+ style with the white shoes. I suppose one could try to mix my socks for black shoes with their pants proper by copying a rectangular area of my pants completely down from the bottom of my pants proper and then pasting that into the bottom of their efforts while retaining their upper pants proper. The affect should show their superior detail of upper pants proper like the striping on the sides while having lower my colorful stockings, sanitary socks, and black shoe area. One problem is that my templates would have to be resized first to fit theirs. For example, many of my templates are about 2048 x 2048 (or 1954) while theirs are typically 512 x 512. I suppose one with graphics knowledge could take a stab at the resulting hybrids.
