Still, another way it could be looked at is, that he resimmed to lose to deflect some of the attention. A 120 win season is one thing, winning the world series is one thing, but when both combine into the same season, that's an entirely different thing that is even fishier looking.

Therefore, it could be interpreted that by him losing the world series, he could hopefully deflect some of the attention he got from winning those 120 games. Then wait to win the world series when he had a slightly lower win total that didn't look so fishy.

That's how I view it at least.
