Jim Atwell lost for rest of season, top prospect Warner likely to be called up
Well, this is a bit of a shocker.
Jim Atwell was considered an Iron Man and up until now had only had two very minor injuries in his more than a decade long big league career, and neither of them arm related.
But that ended a few days ago when he had to be pulled from his most recent start and was diagnosed as having suffered a torn rotator cuff.
This should mean that the Brewers top pitching prospect,
Mike Warner, will now get his first taste of the big leagues. Warner is having a terrific season at AAA, going 7-2 with a 2.00 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. There are some concerns that he might be prone to the longball with a still developing movement profile. (And, indeed, I did promote Warner.)
