I personally wouldn't use that option. I do feel there are still some decisions to be made even without anyone on base. Example being, when the pitcher's pitch count is starting to creep up there a little bit I will often times take pitches until I get a strike on me. Or if the defense is shifting a hitter, laying down a bunt for example.
I guess if you're really looking to whip through games quickly, it could serve purpose. I personally wouldn't see myself ever using it though.
