The St. Louis River Walkers have placed second baseman Ryan Wibbenmeyer on the 14-day injured list after he suffered an Achilles' injury while running the bases during a 2-0 win over Madison on April 8.
Wibbenmeyer, 31, is expected to miss up to three weeks.
The veteran was batting .280 through the season's first three games with one RBI.
Three of his seven hits came in the game where he was injured.
Getting called up from AAA Memphis is 26-year-old shortstop R.J. Gomez.
Thought as the team's shortstop of the future since being acquired in the offseason before the 2039 season, Gomez played well in two callups during that season.
He hit .238 with two homers and nine RBIs in 28 games for the Walkers.
But he has struggled at AAA.
This season, in Memphis first five games Gomez has hit .167 with one homer and two RBIs.
