Way off point; but I love this. If you really want to go there, I’d venture to say
all churches rely on the public to succeed. Not to preach; but that’s the definition of “faith”. And it’s actually a perfect analogy to the gaming marketplace. A game like OOTP, with annual releases, relies totally on keeping the “faith” with its customers. An overwhelming (and growing) number appreciate that, warts and all, and keep returning..
It’s only a “coverup” if you’re a non-believer. In the marketplace or religion. Your choice to be agnostic or worship in another church (game). Good on you. I’m good here. Not uncritical acceptance; but hard-won loyalty. Faith that the developers will investigate and fix any flaws or bugs - and simply improve the game. Not all prayers are answered. Nor could they be.
