Walkers news: April 7 -- Louisville 3, St. Louis 2, 12 innings
Record: 2-3, 5th/(Tied/w. Des Moines), 2 GB Louisville
Dan Boyle connected on an RBI single off St. Louis reliever with one-out in the bottom of the 12th inning to drive home Joe Bien with the game-winning run as the Louisville down the River Walkers 3-2 at Dodger Stadium.
Bein drew a lead-off walk from reliever Chris Willett to open the inning.
A one-out single by Victor Archuleta moved Bien to second.
Rios then replaced Willett.
With a 2-0 count, Boyle singled past the shortstop bringing home Bien with the winning run.
Down 2-1, the River Walkers had tied the game in the top of the eighth when Mario Tito walked Quiang Chang with the bases loaded.
Sluggers starting pitcher Victor Mendez lasted four innings, allowing one run on three hits. He struck out five and walked two.
Frank Handley worked the fifth and recorded the first two outs of the sixth.
Frank Jimenez, who the Walkers traded to Louisville in the offseason, finished the sixth and worked a scoreless seventh.
Ruben Lopez (0.2 IP) and Tito (0.1) combined to handle the eighth.
Kyle Kulig kept the Walkers from scoring in the eighth.
Hermann (1-0), who St. Louis also traded to Louisville in the offseason, worked three scoreless innings to earn the win.
Note: St. Louis starting pitcher Agustin Perdomo and the Sluggers Chris Zoltan were both ejected in the seventh inning after Zoltan charged the mound after being hit by a pitch.
