Walkers news: Dec. 5 -- Trade with Peoria brings Munoz back to St. Louis
The St. Louis River Walkers have acquired right-handed relief pitcher Juan Munoz from the Peoria Rivermen in exchange for minor-league pitcher Jarod Leighton.
It is Munoz second tenure with the River Walkers, as he pitched with them during the 2038 season.
He signed as a free agent with Peoria in 2039, and pitched in 63 games going 3-7 with 31 saves and a 3.10 ERA.
Munoz, 32, pitched 61 innings in 63 games posting a 1.28 WHIP and 70 strike outs.
He will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Leighton, a 23-year-old right-hander, spent the 2039 season at Memphis where in 25 starts he went 10-8 with a 3.11 ERA.
He worked 159.1 innings, during which he struck out 150 and posted a 1.16 WHIP.
Leighton was acquired by St. Louis in the 2034 draft, where he was a 10th round selection.
