This point sums up my entire PT experience this year, and I think if we didn't already feel behind because of the late start, the slow release of "usable" content wouldn't feel so aggravating. I think if we were sitting with this current set of cards in the middle of May, there would be fewer complaints.
But I think the concept of "usable" varies greatly from player to player, and the development team DID answer the call to all the gripe about team variation (of which I did not prescribe). People want to throw a fit about no "usable" cards, and by usable, they mean meta: which by its very nature leads to copycat teams... lo and behold, people will complain about not being able to compete in diamond or above because they don't hold these "usable" cards. I have no problem with criticism, and surely I've said my fair share of peace, but choose a lane!
Where the slow roll has taken effect is the variety in the upper levels, where like frankbama, my team has no business being. Except they do -- because we look at other rosters and see the same thing. There are meta cards, but not meta rosters. I don't even think we know what that looks like yet, and so we argue over the "usefulness" of cards that might be total bangers for me and duds for you, depending on everything from park factors to dumb luck.
I'm sure it'll play out similarly in the end, but I do hope we get GO to provide an influx of new users (and some scrubs to pick on in tournaments... bwahahah). And I hope the mission quantity catches up a bit so that we don't feel like we're spending as much of our season on auto-pilot with the late start, and then it's just... over.
I'm hopeful the tone will change; regardless of how anyone feels about the specific cards, this particular set of BAL missions gave us something to do this past weekend, which felt like PT. That's all I'm looking for: a feeling. I've got an addictive personality, and steer clear of drugs and gambling for that reason... can I purchase a $35 game for a year's worth of feels?
Keep the missions coming!
