May 9-11, 2023: vs Cleveland (3)
Game 1: 6-4 W. WP-Rasmussen (4-0, 5.1 7 2 2 3 6). S-Fairbanks (2). HR-H.Ramos (11). That man Ramos came through again, this time with a first-inning grand slam that was the game's big hit.
Game 2: 0-3 L. LP-McClanahan (3-3, 6 3 2 2 1 6). Mac pitched great but he gave up a 2-run first-inning homer to Mitch Garver and that was it as the Rays' 6-game win streak was snapped. They were shut down by old friend Brendan McKay, who relieved an injured Joe Ross in the 3rd and held them to 1 hit over 3 2/3 IP.
Transaction: Optioned Alec Bohm to Durham and called up 1B/OF Lars Nootbaar, to give us a lefty-swinger.
Game 3: 2-1 W. WP-Baz (3-1, 5.1 2 1 0 3 4). S-Fairbanks (3). Shane Baz and 3 relievers held Cleveland to 3 hits and Heliot Ramos had the big hit again, an RBI single in the 5th to break a 1-1 tie. Brandon Lowe had a rare 2-hit game and singled in the other run.
Team record: 23-11. We're 3 up on now-2nd place New York as the Yankees swept the same Orioles we swept with Baltimore on a 12-game losing skid. Next up: Our first interleague action of the year as Colorado visits for 3 games.
Minors note: Alika Williams' hitting streak was finally snapped at 37 games. He's still hitting about .420 though.
