Yes, Houston should never have been sent to the AL, and the Brewers to the NL, in my view. If the number of teams went from 28 to 30, with me in charge of baseball, there would not have been teams changing leagues like what was done in reality. It's more likely that the number of teams would have gone straight from 28 to 32, instead. Whether in the aforementioned locations or not, that is, supposing I were in charge of real-world baseball.
Montreal would have stayed in Montreal, too, if at all possible, had I had my way. Which of course, means that Washington likely wouldn't have had a team for at least a little while up to now, unless it was another expansion team, or a classic team returning home to its proper location. Unfortunately, we can't easily merge certain teams together as of yet in OOTP, or perhaps even in FHM, I believe.
I now live somewhere in Twins territory, technically, but I have been a Cardinals fan since I was very young, having been born in Missouri myself so long ago. My grandma lived in the St. Louis area prior to her death, so that no doubt influenced my choice of favorite sports teams to follow when I was young. Of course, St. Louis has no NBA team, and the Gridbirds were still in St. Louis, not to mention the Blues. I liked Dr. J from the Sixers, so I chose to follow the Sixers, and I still do, to a degree. As far as I'm concerned, the NFL Cards still belong in STL, and the Rams are thankfully back where they belong, instead of where they never should have been in the first place at all, over in LA.
Hartford might be a good choice, or not, for a team in your setup. Depending on how you want to configure things, however, if you want to keep all the existing teams in your proposed setup, I'd put Washington in the AL, using the Senators name, probably, for instance, which would help to restore old rivalries that were lost when the Senators moved to either Minnesota or Texas.
The above configuration for the leagues mentioned above, I created, after considering where certain teams hailed from, either classically or in the expansion era of baseball. I believe I first grouped teams together by fours, then by eights, or at least by twos, first, and then went from there, in terms of how I decided the placements of certain teams in each of those leagues.
For instance, the Cubs and Cardinals would certainly have to be together with each other, if at all possible. Same with the Yankees and Red Sox, of course. I put natural rivals together first, for sure, then ultimately expanded the relevant groupings as I saw fit, into different pods of some sort, until I had a full eight teams in each relevant league and/or division as seen above.
Now I'm not saying you have to use the same locations or team names, et cetera, of course, jg2977. But if you could somehow determine which teams would fit best with each other in a similar manner, easily enough here, it just might be quite helpful and all for you when it comes to arranging and aligning your relevant leagues and/or divisions. IF you do it right, you could then easily use either the 154-game season length or the 162-game season length for quite a while, I think, for your relevant league and/or dynasty, you know.
Talk more later, as time permits and all, I'm quite sure, jg2977. Thank you for your input and all here, as always, of course. Hartford, though, might be a rather difficult place to put a new MLB team in, at this time, I think. You may instead have to look elsewhere for a possible team location for team 32, if you put Washington in the AL, to oppose the Orioles, you know. CD out.
