If the Dodgers and Giants were still in Brooklyn and Manhattan, the Mets would not exist. They were created to replace the two teams that moved away. That's one reason why the Mets' uniforms are blue (Dodgers) and orange (Giants). I highly doubt that there would be four teams in New York City at any given time.
