St. Louis jumped in front with three runs off Rockford starting pitcher Jimmy DaPra and never trailed while snapping a five-game losing streak with a 9-4 win at RFK Stadium (2005).
Kerry Fackelman got things going with a one-out triple off DaPra.
He scored when Joe Allen followed with a single.
Right after that, it became 3-0 as Nick Shaw hit his sixth home run of the season.
The Lightning David Blanton made it 3-1 with a homer off River Walkers starter Miguel Cisneros in the bottom of the first.
Making his first at bat of the season at the major league level, Rich Dodson gave St. Louis a 4-1 lead with a one-out homer off DaPra in the top of the second.
Rockford got within 4-2 with a run in the bottom of the third.
Matt Weaver led off the inning with a double and scored on a two-out single by Erik Stowe.
A bases-loaded walk to Jose Ramon by the Lightning's Justin Wrobelski in the top of the sixth gave St. Louis a 5-2 advantage.
Wade Martin made it 5-3 with a homer off Cisneros in the bottom of the sixth.
The Walkers finally busted it open by scoring twice in both the eighth and ninth.
Ryan Wibbenmeyer had a pinch-hit RBI single off Jose Tapia in the eighth.
Fackelman drove in the other run with a two-out single.
Mark Herman hit his third homer of the season in the ninth off Michael Walgren.
Zach Wenman drove in Chris Gibbs, who had walked, for the final St. Louis run.
Stowe led off the ninth with a homer off the struggling Frank Jimenez.
Jimenez later allowed a one-out single and walk before being pulled.
Brett McVey took over and hit a batter to load the bases.
But he retired the next two to end it.
Cisneros (2-3) worked six innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out four and walked one.
Maximilliano Minelli and Ron Cox both worked scoreless innings in relief.
Jimenez and McVey handed the ninth.
