No, this is not a willful design decision, the app simply can not technically support two different backend providers. Plus, we did not promise a yearly release schedule, we stated back then that that is the current plan, and unfortunately this time the plan had to change. I wish it were not the case, but we cannot change it, sorry.
And about the historical seasons, we try to resolve this issue, but if we can't, the solution is to keep the old OOTP Go on the device and play purchased historical seasons there. I know it is not ideal, but it certainly works.
