Thoughts on improving the almanac reports
All: if you do not generate almanacs, this probably won't be of any interest to you!
This post is just general suggestions on how these reports could be made more useful and visually appealing. I've uploaded a before/after example of the standard batting reports because explaining by words alone would be impossible.
The main improvements are the removal of a lot of unnecessary visual clutter (mostly in the header and the footer), and aggregating all of the primary stats (things that occur as game events) onto the same page. I'm not a fan of the WAR metric so personally I remove it but I understand that's probably sacrilege to a lot of people. Having access to sabermetric stats in historical sims just seems wrong to me anyway.
Also, it's useful to separate the position players from the pitchers because they are historically compared separately. Finally, the multitude of 0s in the report are replaced by dashes. I don't know how I stumbled upon that idea but it's a really simply improvement that makes these spreadsheet-like reports far more readable.
