On the eve of spring training, my coaching staff is set. I was able to poach some talent from other major league rosters in the expansion draft. That was an ordeal that I should have planned better before starting this thread. I had trouble getting enough players in the expansion draft for 4 new teams in 1969. Then I was also having trouble changing the amateur draft from December to another date without the year changing to 2022 or 2023. Next time I attempt this, I think I will simulate 10 seasons before taking over an expansion team in their first year. Maybe that might help the draft pool.
In the expansion draft, I was able to draft Boog Powell from the Orioles. I don't think the Orioles would have given him up since he wins the AL MVP in 1970, I think? So, he's definitely the star of the team. I also drafted 46 year old reliever Hall of Famer Hoyt Wilhelm.
I did my first amateur draft and was awarded the 21st pick. My pick decided to go to college.
I am projected to win only 58 games in 1969. I have no top prospects as of right now.
I like my coaching staff, all under contract for 5 years. I don't know what I really expect out of them, but we'll see. From this point forward. I will keep better track of all interactions I make to improve (or decrease) the performance of my team.
