well, some of this is natural.. i expected him to have more steals where teams have him set to steal more often. i was under the impression that the slider had some 'intelligence' built in, in that in decreasing the # of steal attempts, it would only steal when the conditions are most beneficial. i've come to the conclusion that i was wrong about that, and the AI seems to just determine if X conditions are met, then if X conditions are met, the chance of the steal being attempted is what this influences .. which makes it rather worthless.
(for the record, some other teams I looked at, I'd say it was about 50-50 w/o knowing any other info as to whether hamilton's steals were beneficial or not. a couple teams had 70:30 to 80:20 ratios, but most were around 60:40)
I attached a screenshot of someone else that I've had at -4 steal the entire time I've had him.
I suppose I'm finally getting bored of OOTP, but after seeing and comparing this to various other teams, w/ me essentially having the worst SB:CS in the entire league (it's about 45% success vs 55% fail for my entire team),
I decided I was wasting time using anything but the global settings. maybe it'll be more fun, as I'm quickly losing interest, laugh
(also, after being in some PeL season a couple weeks ago, it seemed to me that best thing would be for one to acquire some 'luck' and build a big enough lead earlier in the season, to park your pitchers that are 'hot' in your reserve roster. move them over when the playoffs start. these 'streaks', are also the best way to make use of stadium settings & another reason why defense is overpowered (or so this has always seemed to me, playing the game))
ed: re; the high baserunning thing. yeah, but this would be independent of the steals. my understanding of this may be incorrect, but I think the stolen bases/caught stealing and the base running aspect (people getting thrown out, or the game AI determining that a runner chose not to take a base when they could have, etc) is all stuck into this 'base running' score, no? mine is -2.4, which is 8th of 15 teams ... my total stolen bases is 58, 13th of 15 ... I have been caught stealing 69 times.. this is the 3rd most out of 15 teams .. again, despite having some players set to NEVER steal, and all the rest at a single notch, or -4 .. how does this make sense? is the individual override even functioning properly? .... but, anyway, I'd have to guess that this means my baserunning is a net beneficial to that score.
I added an attachment w/ stats from that conference (ignore NC east at the bottom, lol)
ed2: also, finesse pitchers, lol
ed3: oh, one more thing I noticed ... the overall for pitchers, it weights too heavily towards right handed batters, vs. what is present in the game itself. e.g. this pitcher with stuff:movement:control at 112/76/65 -- LHB: 123/83/67 : RHB: 109/73/64
