Yeah the last 24 hours definitely have done serious damage to the confidence of the community in OOTP, after 2 months of events that already bring their organization and competence into question.

Yeah, it's great that they listened to our feedback and (at least for now) decided not to implement these changes, but this idea was so far off the reservation that the fact that they even needed customer feedback to understand this is disturbing in and of itself. This shows that there is a massive disconnect between OOTP and the players.

Keep in mind, we are STILL missing key features we've been promised (Go, Challenge Mode, Twitch Drops), with no timetable for any of them and no updates other than "we're working on it", and the players that stuck around after all the delays and launch disaster are still feeling the sting from that and understandably are still a bit uneasy with how OOTP has been handling things as of late. The LAST thing the game needed was a bombshell announcement that benefitted no one and would alienate a good percentage of the player base.

The devs need to understand that the reason people aren't paying as much for PT this year isn't because OOTP is giving away too much free stuff in tournaments, it's because the entire release process was a fuster cluck and many people who would normally spend money either don't want to pay money for an incomplete/broken game, or just quit playing altogether. I'm not sure what the solution is for that problem at this point, but I just hope that when 24 comes out they get it right from the start and don't drive a wedge between them and the player base with mistakes and terrible decisions.
