April 14, 1914 - It's Opening Day against the Yankees at the Polo Grounds. Projections say the Athletics will finish 96-58 in a tie with the Red Sox, but we plan to defy projections.
Spring Training saw the injury of future Hall of Fame 2B, Eddie Collins. Collins will be out for 2-3 months. As a replacement, I signed a 37-years-old 3B named Dave "Filipino" Altizer. I know nothing about him, other than I thought I could teach him to play 2B.
Likewise, I raided the FL and signed Benny Kauff and signed Free Agent, Stan Coveleski. This is a deep team, but it is also deadball era, so despite my confidence, we might not win the pennant.
