Walkers news: March 9 -- Urablejo placed on injured list with ankle injury
The St. Louis River Walkers have placed utility infielder Tony Urbalejo on the 14-day injured list after he suffered torn ligaments in his ankle during a 9-5 loss to Chicago on March 8.
Urbalejo, who St. Louis signed from Akron in the offseason, is expected to miss at least six weeks.
Urbajelo had appeared in nine games during spring training, and hit .316 with three runs scored and three RBIs.
The loss of Urajelo leaves St. Louis short-handed at the shortstop position, as starting shortstop Daylen Reyes is already being held out of action with an unknown injury.
The leaves veteran Kevin Kendall as the only major league shortstop in camp.
Minor leaguers Rich Dodson and R.J. Gibson also can play the position.
