Walkers news: Nov. 16 -- Monroe declines qualifying offer, files for free agency
The St. Louis River Walkers have announced that right-handed starting pitcher Brad Monroe has declined a qualifying offer worth $15 million and has filed for free agency.
Acquired in the offseason from Peoria, Monroe, 31, had an impressive season for the Walkers going 15-6 with a 3.50 ERA in 32 starts.
He pitched a total of 190.1 innings, during which he struck out 191 and posted a 1.18 WHIP.
The Walkers will receive a compensatory first-round pick if Monroe should sign with another team.
