This is only an argument if you wanna make it one. You do not have to sell them, but I'm just trying to tell you that depending on what team the diamonds you have are on, it may be more beneficial to sell them so you can buy non-live cards to get around the automatic tanking warnings.
You do you though. It ain't my job to tell people how to go about their business. These were all mere suggestions. Your call whether or not you want to heed the advice given.
