Justin Banks earned MGL Player of the Week honors and the Brewers concluded the week by completing a 4-game sweep of the Charlotte Sting in Denver.
The Brewers end the week with a 3 1/2 game lead over the Phoenix Speed Devils atop the MGL West, while the slumping San Francisco Velocity have now fallen to 5 1/2 games back.
The Los Angeles Spinners, who are a distant 19 games behind the Brewers in 5th place, yesterday dealt away their one All-Star player this year, veteran reliever and fan favorite Kazuhiro "Kaz" Miyamoto, to the Chicago Fire.
It says here that the Spinners didn't get a great deal of value in return, although 23-year old third baseman Guillermo Garcia could eventually make a big league ball club in a limited capacity, with his best skills being a very strong arm, a good eye at the plate, and a bit of pop in his bat. Then again, his career minor league slash line, having never reached higher than A ball, is .190/.286/.316. So probably not.
