THE WEEK IN REVIEW:
Not a bad debut for Mr Chappell.
NEXT WEEK: OFF DAY 3 @ Houston Roughriders 4 @ Ft Worth Cowboys
ABL HAPPENINGS:
9/22:
Ardent readers may remember Kent Spargo. Found him in Australia way back in 2014. He was a legitimate prospect who had no path and wasn't progressing fast enough. Well today Montreal locked him up for 4 years and 38.4 million. He's gone 51-37 42 SV 352 in 188 G 98 GS and 740 IP with a 1.12 WHIP. I sent him north in a 5 player package for SP Justin Myers.
Rookie C David Martinez (SD) went 3-4 and homered 3 times in an 8-7 loss to New York.
Steve Littrell (MEX) evened his record at 10-10 4.07 with a 7 strike out 2 walk CG 4-hitter in a 9-0 win over Montreal.
Baltimore acquired P Josh Filgo (30 3*) from San Francisco for P Jesse Maynard (24 2.5*) and C Rich White (23 2*)
Having not seen a post-season game in 17 years and on the verge of a 2nd straight 100 loss season the LA Storm fired GM Wayne Yates and Manager Craig Carroll today. No word on replacements as of yet.
9/23:
Nick Dye (CHA) fanned 6 and walked 2 in a 4-hitter to beat Atlanta 6-0 and move a game over .500 at 12-11 4.29
San Jose clinched their 11th California Division title.
9/25:
Warren Thompson (DAL) is on the verge of a 4th straight 300 K season after his 15 strikeout performance against Houston today. The 2024 Koufax winner fanned 15 over 8 innings of 3 hit 1 run ball to win his 16th (16-8 2.87) 5-3.
Jose Rodriguez (DEN) won his career high 15th (15-8 3.57) with a 5 K 0 BB CG SHO of Las Vegas in a 7-0 win.
9/26:
Ted Tyson (DAL) struck out 10+ hitters for the 5th straight start and 16th time this season in his 1st SHO of the year beating Houston 6-0 to run his record to 12-5 2.41.
The Chicago Iron Pigs continue to raise the bar for expansion clubs as they clinched their 5th Mid-American Pennant in their 8 year existance and will be making their 6th straight post-season appearance. They are 89-63 and just 5 wins shy of breaking their 2024 record of 93-69.
9/27:
Robby Reed (WAS) struck out 8 to win his 10th (10-15 3.89) in a CG 2-hit 8-0 victory over New England.
