With a report of the trading of Luke Voit to the Padres for a pitching prospect came this statement: "With the designated hitter becoming a part of the National League this season, a bevy of teams are in need of a bat." It would be interesting to see a compilation of the trades during this preseason to see how many older, defensive-challenged batters will have moved to the NL because of the DH with pitchers coming the other way.
